Peer-to-Peer Invoice Financing: How it Works

01

A business (e.g., a supplier SME) delivers goods/services to their customer

In this set up, the SME is the Invoice Seller, while the Customer is the Invoice Debtor.

02

SME issues an invoice due for payment within 90 days

SME owner needs to pay suppliers and employees, but is currently tight on cash. Financing is needed before the due date of the invoice.

03

SME owner signs up with SmartFunding and submits unpaid invoices

SmartFunding conducts extensive credit research on the SME. After passing the assessment, information on the invoice (e.g., interest rate, investment terms) is posted on SmartFunding's online investment platform.

04

Investors invest in the unpaid invoice

Investors can invest in the invoice for as little as S$100. They can also look for other invoices available on SmartFunding's online investment platform, and invest in them.

05

Invoice Debtor pays the full invoice amount

SmartFunding credits investors' Wallets with their investment + interest earned.

06

The remainder of the payment goes to the Invoice Seller

The Invoice Seller (in this case, the SME) cab re-submit unpaid invoices to SmartFunding whenever the need for financing arises.
